A Tale of Two Cities plot
Charles Darnay is the nephew of a French marquis. He disagrees with the feudal system in France and moves to England. Darnay is suspected of espionage there, but he is acquitted by lawyer Sydney Carton. In England he is maintained by Lucie Manette and her father, who was innocently imprisoned in the Bastille for years. Carton is in love with Lucie, but she loves Darnay and marries him. When Darney returns to France during the Terror, he is sentenced to the guillotine. His love rival Carton has to save his life.
