"D.W. Griffith's Vital Story of Today"

When Ralph Gray visits France with his shipbuilder father, he falls in love with Ataline France. She is the granddaughter of an old friend of his father, who emigrated to Europe after the American Civil War. However, Ataline is already engaged, after which Ralph returns to America disappointed. But when the First World War breaks out, their paths will cross again when Ralph, together with his younger brother James, goes into battle against the Germans.
