A simple offer of legal advice turns into the biggest challenge of Claire Darrow's legal career when her lover, prosecutor Miles Strasberg, introduces her to his younger half-sister, Phoebe. She is a singer and has just finished her first album. She fears that she has transferred her rights to her ex-producer, who is threatening to destroy the recordings. When the producer is found dead in his studio, the police find enough evidence and a motive to arrest Phoebe. Although Claire has never handled a murder case, Miles can't imagine entrusting the fate of his beloved sister to anyone else. Together with Miles, Claire searches for the truth behind the crime.
