Advice to the Lovelorn plot
"HE KNOWS ALL THE ANSWERS TO THE LOVE PROBLEMS OF 10,000 WOMEN..."
After reporter Toby Prentiss angers his editor by missing an important story because he was drunk, he is ordered to take over the role of the retiring 'Miss Lonelyhearts' advice column as punishment. Enraged but bound by contract, Prentiss deliberately tries to get himself fired by writing a series of answers that go against conventional morality. Instead, he proves to be a huge success and becomes a syndicated national columnist. This causes significant problems between him and his girlfriend Louise.
