D'Artagnan, a temperamental young man from Gascony, is left for dead after trying to save a young woman from being kidnapped. When he arrives in Paris, he tries by all means to find his attackers. Little does he know that his quest will lead him to the heart of a real war where the future of France hangs in the balance. Together with Athos, Porthos and Aramis, three musketeers of the king, D'Artagnan faces the dark machinations of Cardinal de Richelieu. I expected more from this. It's not bad, but I'm still a bit hungry. Costumes and decor, make-up, acting are all in order. It's good that the story is being filmed in the country of origin. That does the film the most justice and that sufficient budget was allocated for it. There are also sequels to come. I also had absolutely no idea that Eva Green is French. I never noticed that. I only know the rest of the cast from Vincent Cassel, although D'Artagnan, played by François Civil, is the protagonist. This one is arrogant but it never gets annoying, he does it excellently. Definitely curious about the sequel because I am always in favor of historical/fantasy films/war.

Nice film adaptation of the Musketeers, the story is fine and the location and cast are also good. Eva Green is definitely a pleasure to watch, I'm curious how part 2 coming in December will be.

Yet another film adaptation of Alexandre Dumas' historical adventure classic. Despite the star cast, the film adds little to the previous film adaptations. Bizarre that we have to wait about six months for part 2 (“Mylady”).
