Paris 1935: Shortly after struggling actor Madeleine Verdier [Nadia Tereszkiewics] agitatedly leaves the house of producer Montferrand [Jean-Christophe Bouvet] after an audition, Montferrand is found dead with a bullet in his head. Judge Gustave Rabusset [Fabrice Luchini] considers Madeleine to be the prime suspect and she is defended by friend and lawyer Pauline [Rebecca Marder]. Initially they do everything they can to exonerate Madeleine, until they realize that being found guilty could be valuable to Madeleine's career. Since Rabusset is all about condemning someone, this results in a bizarre negotiation. Not about the question of guilt, but about what the 'cheapest' way to admit guilt is. Adaptation of the play of the same name by Louis Verneuil and Georges Berr, in the aftermath of the scandals surrounding Harvey Weinstein and Bill Cosby, seems a bit tasteless. It also gives the impression that Ozon belongs to those who believe that female actors would do anything to get publicity, as long as it benefits their careers. Isabelle Huppert only appears in the last quarter as a cross between Sarah Bernhardt and Nazimova, but she also makes quite a splash.

A daring film by Ozone. It took me a while to get used to the setup. I had the feeling - especially in the first scenes - that I was watching a play. When the landlord literally barged in, a kind of humor that came across as very forced and wooden, I really had the idea that every moment was going to be zoomed out to the audience. Not so.

With the acting I honestly had that forced feeling throughout the movie although it could also be related to the idea of Ozone. Mon crime is a satire or even parody of justice and the Assassin orphanage in which a jury of people judges crimes committed, often murders.

Certainly an interesting scene here and there, such as the interrogations before the investigating judge or the trial with the public prosecutor. Not everything was always successful. Some scenes seemed forced or superfluous, but congratulations to Ozon for coming up with something original, because this is not just a film that everyone will like or will compete for an award. Sympathetic and playful film to forget the worries of life for a while.

When a producer is murdered, an aspiring actress and a returning actress vie to claim the murder for publicity reasons. Light-hearted crime comedy by François Ozon with a renowned cast. Not his best work, but nice as a snack.
