"The story of two people who got married, met and then fell in love."
Brontë Parrish, a New York native, has found a dream apartment with an adjoining conservatory, but the owners only want to rent out to couples. The Frenchman Georges Fauré is offered a job in the United States, but has to get a residence permit. A mutual friend leads the two to a marriage of convenience. Everything is going well until the Immigration Service smells trouble.

I couldn't really empathize with this movie because of Macdowell's appallingly bad acting. There was little humor in it for a romantic comedy. And the story, a bit unbelievable. But after a tiring day it is a nice view.

Mediocre film in which two people get married on paper for their own reasons. In itself a good thing. This cannot really be called a romcom, because there is too little com in it (apart from a few entertaining scenes). Gérard Depardieu charmingly portrays his role in his American film debut. Just under 3.0 stars for this lesser film by Peter Weir.
