Outstanding film in which a married woman begins an affair with her husband's co-worker. Not DH Lawrence's first book adaptation, but a good one. A beautiful, mature, romantic and erotically charged drama set after the First World War. The era is well portrayed and the acting is good.

Nice video.

With Lawrence's book, apart from the title and the names of the main characters, it doesn't really have that much to do, the story is simplified until there is little more depth than a Hallmark Christmas movie - the relationships are rather flat, the characters are only hardly worked out. Cinematographically the ending is ok, although the film should have ended a shot earlier - but narratively it is a bit very easygoing.

Emma Corrin, unknown to me, carries the lead role just fine, that's for sure, and O'Connel gets away with Mellors. Duckett is insufficient, but his character is also simply not given enough space. Too bad, that could have been better with little effort.

Quite a nice romantic drama that mainly benefits from the acting and cinematography.

The film is quite long and is not always exciting. It therefore feels like a long sitting, although there are really plus points to this film.

For example, the acting performances of Emma Corrin and Jack O'Connell are very good and the sets and costumes are excellent.

I don't know the book so I can't judge whether the movie does justice to the book. All in all, it has not been a waste of time to set up this film, as long as you, as a viewer, take into account that the story flows smoothly.

Sufficient, 3*
