You have to love it, of course, but you have to hand it to Tyler Perry to want to make this series of films. As a director as well as an actor, he fulfills that task well in his own way. Tyler plays his Madea and Uncle Joe roles very well. The humor is often flat and sometimes over the top, but those who are open to it can fully enjoy the immense family bustle, the underlying humour, the funny situations and the many language jokes. Tyler does opt for a coherence in the story with the necessary drama in the second part, which makes the second part seem less funny. In short, a very enjoyable film. 6/10

Seems to have been quite critical of Perry's portrayal of African Americans in his comedies (Spike Lee among others, he says the characters refer to Blackface actors in the 1930s and 1940s). At least that's what I read on Wikipedia. Now I don't know how extensive that criticism is, I didn't delve into it further, but I think it's all not too bad.
I like these kinds of comedies. Ok, the humor is often really flat and bland, but not bad as in a Nijenhuis production. Tyler Perry does a lot of good as talkative Madea. I've always had a soft spot for the big mama phenomenon (the reality program Een Jaar van je Leven also features a 'big mama': Moraima. Nice person!).
Uncle Joe and Aunt Bam are also hilarious characters. You also have someone like Aunt Bam in real life, at least in the past, of those old berries who constantly make obscene sexual remarks.
Agnes Brown from Ireland is also present, is a bit snowed under by the rest and doesn't really get the chance to shine.
