Babi Yar. Context plot

Babi Yar is a ravine on the outskirts of the Ukrainian capital Kiev where one of the largest mass executions in history took place. In this documentary Sergei Loznitsa shows the run-up to and aftermath of the two days in September 1941, when 33,771 Jews were shot by the Nazis on this spot. The mass execution forms the silent center of the film, which is entirely made up of archive footage, partly provided with sound afterwards.
