Good action film in which a Texas Ranger tries to maintain order in his own way. The film has a lot in style and atmosphere and especially also music reminiscent of spaghetti westerns. The story of the police versus the bad guys is not much, but it is still entertaining. This is of course also due to the old-fashioned action scenes in which the final fight between Chuck Norris and David Carradine is certainly worth it. And Chuck Norris is also entertaining in the title role.

Norris was one of those action heroes I got to know through cult worship without having seen a single film of his. My first film with Norris was The Expendables 2. Time to look for material of him and I quickly came across this Lone Wolf McQuade, apparently a well-known title in his repertoire.

Also some familiar names like David Carradine and Barbara Carrera. Although I only remember Carradine from films like Boxcar Bertha and Children of the corn V, apart from Kill Bill.

LQ Jones (Dakota) still has the best films of all (Casino, Hang 'em high, Pat Garrett & Billy The Kid, Mask of Zorro). I had already seen Dana Kimmell in Friday the 13th III. Also striking is of course Barbara Carrera who was also a Bond girl in Never say never again that same year. Where she was clearly better at 'being pretty' than really acting.

You would think that a film like this can't do much wrong. The good old films with actors from the Expendables are not always top films, but they certainly entertain. Some fighting, a pretty helpless chick, a one-liner here and there... Sometimes that's all it needs. But this Lone Wolf McQuade lacks chemistry and Norris really has to take a back seat to other action hero actors. This film is more in the spirit of The A-Team or McGuyver, but without the humor. Ironically enough, the only appearance of Norris that has made an impression so far is in The Expendables 2, mainly because of the effect that the team has so much respect for him.

Not a top film, here and there some nice action and I did like the music. Although I had the strong impression that a lot of it was ripped off in other film scores. Hopefully I will come across a better Norris film, this one let me down.

I pretty much agree with the previous comment. This is a more than decent film with Chuck Norris. Note the spaghetti western atmosphere, especially in the intro scene with those cattle thieves. That music, zoom in on Norris... that's Leone through and through. Lone Wolf McQuade is a western in a modern guise, in which the Texas Rangers are the cowboys. With Carradine, Chuck has a worthy opponent. Lots of bravado as usual, but McQuade's two sidekicks were well-introduced and hold out until the end. . Yes, this was a good one. They should have made sequels here instead of the overrated Missing in Action.
