Young and Free plot

In the late 1800s, an Ohio rancher whose mother died of cholera explores the western United States with his father as bums on a freight train. At some point they decide to go into the great outdoors, to discover the Wild West, together with its inhabitants; the Indians. Thus the young man matures in an Indian way of life.
