The Children in the House plot
Cora is married to Arthur Vincent, with whom she has two children. Arthur, the son of a bank manager, cheats on Cora with a dancer. Cora seeks comfort from her sister, who is remarried to Fred Brown. His brother Charles works in Arthur's father's bank and has never been able to accept that Cora rejected him to marry Arthur.
