The officer Paul Almasy is separated from his unit behind enemy lines and has to take shelter in the Hotel Imperial. There he gets help from Anna, who disguises him as a waiter. The invading Russians make the hotel their headquarters. Paul kills the Russian spy Petroff and Anna helps him with an alibi.
