My mouth is just about to drop open from the generous scores here. Nowadays it is more difficult than ever to separate the wheat from the chaff within this genre via Moviemeter, but this takes the cake. A film that is 10 to 15 years late (hillbilly torture porn), although that is not even a legitimate point of criticism. As far as I'm concerned, that remains a timeless principle and can only really go wrong on two points: mediocre gore & art direction. Surprise: in both areas it falls far below the lower limit. You can turn a blind eye to a lot; uninspired cinematography, weak performances and average sound design. But the fact that it ultimately has no balls at all and does not have the resources to produce decent kills... that doesn't appeal to me. The whole thing also looks way too clean. The locations don't feel like a run-down redneck gang. You almost have to be able to smell these kinds of films through the filth. Excruciating mediocrity.

Entertaining, albeit a dime a dozen horror film that offers sufficient entertainment. Perhaps less so towards the end given the twists, although the ending still has a decent effect. 6/10

A 4.6 on IMBD, a 38 out of 100 on Rotten Tomatoes, and these points are more than justified. I've seen it a thousand times, teenagers who encounter a madman or some madmen in a remote place, and rarely anything good comes of it. I have a streaming service with only horror films and you can count the number of good films on one hand. Then why do I have it? Mother the woman...this is b material
