Pretty nice yes. Skillfully put together, little unnecessary nonsense/filler and nice and straightforward. Also nice that the ''ghosts'' also have something of a physical appearance, was a bit afraid beforehand to have to face opening doors and flapping curtains à la Paranormal Activity throughout the film to look. A little creepier this way. Scares were often predictable, but that didn't spoil the fun too much. I secretly thought the ending was funny. 3*

Scary cheap.

The film Host manages to positively rise above contemporary horror. And as if Covid-19 didn't cause enough misery already, this film almost pales the pandemic with realistic shudders within the so-called found footage genre. The mustard was taken from films such as Unfriended and Searching, which are also set on the computer. Two strong titles, but Host may know how to make the viewer shudder even more. And that in a cheap way. It confirms once again that you can make a good film without money. And a good movie should be short. An hour is sometimes sufficient.

The Corona crisis is useful when a group of teenagers can only speak to each other via Zoom thanks to the lockdown. Evoking ghosts has never been so digital. You could say that towards the end a register is pulled too much and that not everything makes sense, but thanks to the fast tempo you get little chance to put salt on all the snails. And that's not a bad thing at all, because in this age of human selfishness there is already enough to get excited about. However bad man is, the answer is not in the spirit realm. That proves once again.

***½

Horror made easy. The story is of this time and is very predictable. The elaboration is quite well done although Savage has little input of his own. Scene after scene has been stolen. You can also see them coming from afar. Skillfully working from one jumpscare to another. The protagonists also do exactly what a normal person would not do. There's nothing wrong with that, because it works pretty well. Despite the short running time, the film feels full-fledged. Just put your mind to zero and watch it in the evening, then this film works best. 2.5/3.0
