Really not good....

Actually, the acting was so bad from the very first moment by the two parents at the bedside of their possessed son, cringing...

I actually wanted to throw the film away at the time, but I watched it anyway, waste of time...

Messy whole with an annoying devil.

Pearce as the arrogant exorcist mentor and Derbez as the loser apprentice. I can understand that the latter lends itself to yet another disappointing exorcist film. But Pearce; Does he really have nothing better to do or is he 'shunned'? It starts with the intro with the Pope; completely unnecessary. The story is otherwise reasonable, although you saw the plot twist coming from afar. This looked like a cheap TV movie. Unfortunately, this one doesn't appear in my top exorcist films.

The Seventh Day deals with a theme that seems to be on the rise again in recent years and leaves an increasingly exhausted impression. This film is about a child who is possessed by a demon. How surprising. Two exorcists take on the case. The result is a thin story that (except for a surprising plot twist) offers nothing new under the sun.

Whenever a film about exorcism is released, there is an inevitable look at the great-grandfather of exorcism films from 1973. And yes, there are few films that can stand in the shadow of its ancestor. The Seventh Son is the example of a failed attempt.

With the help of a thin story (which arouses some curiosity in the run-up), both main characters rush to confrontations with demons in an atmosphereless atmosphere. Father Guy Pearce plays on autopilot and portrays a washed-out clergyman. So that works out well. His fellow exorcist Vadhir Derbez looks a lot more energetic and adds some flair to his character. And yes, that does look more pleasant.

Story and characters are not impressive. What about the creep factor? Not impressive either, I'm afraid. Especially very predictable. That classification also applies to the demonic voice of the devilish monster that one is trying to exorcise. The effect of the voice is especially laughable.

I actually thought it was a sad film.
