It's never just "Make 'em laugh, make 'em laugh, make 'em laugh..." with Charly. There is always a human nature involved.
Now he's the heroic man - he's kind of funny in his priority rescue plan - who's betrayed by jealousy. .
Then of course come the "catch me if you can scenes" with the clichéd situations and stomping against the buttocks, but still providing pleasant entertainment. The ending is a bit short and abrupt. That's how it was once. However, the man remains a genius, even in small films like this.

After Tillie, who I didn't like, I didn't like having to slog through another DVD with no fewer than four films. But after briefly checking the titles, I was surprised that these four all score a sufficient and more. And that was especially noticeable with the first of the four, this The Adventurer.

Leaving aside the horrible music, this film, which is immediately better, gets off to a smooth start. And this time the slapstick humor is nice, and especially short and concise. The story is clearly about the recently escaped crook who outsmarts the police but gets into trouble again due to a good deed. The length is also a lot better with the apotheosis of the crazy chase through the hotel where the lampshade and the sliding doors stand out as strong and well-conceived moments. It should be clear that this was better.
