I immediately thought of the French resistance film Les Femmes de l'Ombre (2008). This feminist film about three women, who each contribute in their own way to the fight against the Nazis, also has more than enough compelling moments.

Exciting and based on three true stories. The story about Noor Inayat Khan (played by the talented Indian actress Radhika Apte) could have been a bit more elaborate in my opinion.

Leading actress Sarah Megan Thomas, who was also responsible for the screenplay, suffered a torn Achilles tendon from making this film. In retrospect, not so surprising.

A good film but with some criticisms. The acting is fine and the decors/locations look convincing (e.g. details such as a gas mask on the coat rack). Although the film is loosely based on true facts and characters, I think the film certainly has historical value and it is impressive to get a picture of what happened to both ladies and what they achieved. I definitely thought it was a fun movie. But the film also has some criticisms. Someone writes 'the film is not everyone's friend'. I think this is correct. You could possibly call the film a bit slow. The film is too boring for an action movie, doesn't have enough depth for a drama, there is no romance in it and there is certainly nothing to laugh about. So what is it? I think it comes closest to a historical war drama, but it actually lacks some depth. As suggested above, the film would have been better served in a miniseries. Furthermore, I would have chosen not to tell the story about Noor (there isn't much attention for it anyway) in order to give the story of Virginia more space. Sometimes very big jumps are made that actually contain quite a lot of interesting material (eg how did she get back from the south of France to London?). You could also pay much more attention to this in a mini series. Despite all this, I did enjoy the film and - if you like this kind of film - I can definitely recommend it. If you like this movie, I can also recommend that you watch 'Six minutes to midnight'. Overall 3.5 stars for me.

Disappointing! Made very cheaply. Could have lived much more. Slack acting. Little tension. Camera work is mediocre. Story is ok, but poorly executed.

2.5*
