Completely redundant.
Nothing but good things about Breaking Bad itself. Well, maybe just that it took a little long to get to the brilliant ending. But it was genius, and the maniacally laughing Pinkman was a nice ending. I'd rather have left it at that, that's the first thing that happens to me after this piece of viewing food.
And yes, it's nice to hang around nostalgically in the BB world for a while, and see a handful of the characters again. But you might as well set up a random episode for that. In terms of production values you will soon be better off, I was also not impressed by the camera work or the way the story is told. And with a few exceptions when the police arrive I also found the whole thing a bit humorless.
Well let's hope there isn't another spin-off or sequel. Sometimes you just have to be content with what you have, enough is enough.

Excellent film in which Jesse Pinkman manages to escape and tries to build a new life. Of course there is no point in watching this movie if you haven't seen the series. Story-wise, not too much happens, but it's nice to see how Jesse is going and as a fan of the series it's just fun again (also has the same tone and atmosphere). Exciting, well-constructed scenes with quite a few surprises.

Much better than expected. But not quite.
Was this necessary? No. Is it exciting. Certainly. Especially in the first part of the movie. If the atmospheric film has a remarkably sparse plot and in particular the flashbacks are stronger than expected and still show pretty nice asides from the time in which the series takes place and adds extra layers to Jesse and Todd in particular. The film was much more character-driven than the series, which is more plot-driven. The film becomes noticeably less strong with that fuss about the missing 1800 euros and the way in which he arrives there, if he does settle on the plot and the film also plays the western way too emphatically, where that is in the series felt more natural. Felt a bit like a style break. Nice ending again.
Aaron Paul isn't as slim as he was back then, not to mention the really big Jesse Plemans. That was not so convincing, especially since the rest of the details were spot on.
