Mabel comes from a poverty-stricken family. She discovers that she has a talent for making people laugh. She goes to work as a clown at children's parties. When her father becomes ill and can no longer work, Mabel looks for ways to earn more money. On the advice of her friend Malena, she starts working as a prostitute in the evenings. During the day she continues to grace children's parties and does volunteer work in a children's hospital. One day she runs into the wealthy Martin. Martin is tired of his marriage and his boring life as a lawyer. He's going to live in a camper. The two click and Mabel moves in with him.
