Journalist Anand Ingalagi's book El-Dorado, which details events on the Kolar goldfields between 1951 and the present, has been banned by the government of India and all published copies have been burned. Ingalagi relates that in May 1951 gold was discovered by authorized government officials in the southern part of the Indian state of Mysore.
