A bit too easy.

It's been a while since I saw something from Aardman. Not very much changed. Still hardly any text, and droll characters. Unfortunately, it all felt very familiar. Actually, it reminded me a lot of other Aardman films. I can't quite put my finger on it. I don't have a perfect picture of their films, but I always thought I had seen this kind of thing before... also thought the Alien looked a bit stupidly childish.

I'm being lenient because it wasn't bad again, but I hope Aardman will come up with an ounce more next time.

3 stars.

Outstanding Animated Feature Film in which Shaun The Sheep and his friends take care of an alien who crash-landed near a fast food restaurant. The appearance of a space creature has not gone unnoticed and has resulted in a lot of tourism. The farmer thinks he can make a profit there and converts his land into an amusement park: Farmageddon. Meanwhile, Shaun and friends must figure out how to reunite their new boyfriend with his parents. For that they have to outsmart Bitzer all the time.

Cheerful family film full of brilliant visual gags and humor that retains the pleasant, friendly (and never humiliating) humor that characterized the previous film and series. That shouldn't really come as a surprise, but screenwriters Mark Burton and Jon Brown constantly manage to give it an original, funny interpretation. Ultimate unpretentious entertainment for young and old.

I don't like those bland pop songs, but otherwise this is very entertaining. The little alien was a sympathetic addition. Agree with Macmanus that it sometimes gets a bit too repetitive (the farmer and his dog are just slightly different from the actually nicer Wallace & Gromit, for example), but this one is coming better off with it. All those little references (X-Files, ET, you name it) are also fun to spot. That ginger-haired peasant reminded me a lot of the drunken shot in Chomet's 'L'Illusioniste' - because of similar unintelligible bluster.

Neat 7.
