"We all have our sins."
In the Appalachians, believers want to prove themselves to God by measuring themselves against deadly snakes. Mara, daughter of the pastor Lemuel, also lives in this community. He is a man determined to protect his way of life in a changing world and also easily turns against the ancient traditions. Well I didn't think it was that bad. The cast plays well and the story is good. The pace is slow, but it didn't bother me. Just a decent movie that didn't bore me.

A daring subject and an excellent lead performance by Alice Englert prove insufficient to keep this film by directing duo Britt Poulton and Dan Madison Savage afloat. At its core, Them That Follow is actually completely uninteresting. Hardly anything happens, the characters perform totally incomprehensible actions, and the ending is not exactly a conclusion the viewer has been waiting for for 98 minutes. Only the cast members manage to do some impressive things within the limited material they have to work with. Ultimately, the final nail in the coffin is the unmemorable and rather simplistic cinematography, with virtually no cleverly staged scenes.
