After seeing the trailer I wasn't exactly thrilled. It looked 'quite funny'.
I just watched the movie out of boredom. And wow, what a fantastically fun movie this is!
Although the story is quite simple, the execution is masterful. The (mainly practical!) effects looked great, the cast and their characters were very good and especially the sound of the film. Worth experiencing in the bios for this alone.
Pure entertainment with top quality.

“How's it feel to have blood of eternity inside you?”
“It doesn't feel fucking right!”
Enjoyed. Overlord is an original and exciting World War II/horror film, and from the exciting start you are immediately drawn into the film. You hardly get time to breathe and the start in the plane, and the drops over enemy territory, are a perfect entry point.
It's almost reminiscent of the iconic beginnings of Saving Private Ryan. Overlord is of course a lot less serious and realistic, and after a while we have to deal with strange experiments, zombies, talking heads and men who have super powers. The combination of war and horror works, and the film also radiates fun. Exciting, gruesome and chilling, but also entertaining and unpretentious.
