The Grinch plot
"Scheme big."
The Grinch is a bitter creature with a heart two sizes too small. He lives in a cave on a snowy mountain north of Whoville, home to the warm-hearted and cheerful Whos. His only friend is his dog, Max. From his mountaintop, the Grinch hears the noisy Christmas preparations. Jealous of the Who's merriment, he plans to descend the mountain and steal the gifts and Christmas decorations to prevent Christmas from continuing.

I thought it was really fantastic! Very atmospheric, tastefully told (which you cannot say about the version with Jim Carrey) and the character of the Grinch (and his background) are really beautifully developed. Halfway through the pace slows down a bit, but it soon picks up again and I think it is a really atmospheric, successful Christmas film.

Reverent adaptation of the famous children's book by Dr Seuss in which The Grinch [Benedict Cumberbatch] tries to disrupt the festivities in the neighboring village by stealing Christmas but is changed his mind by the sincerity of Cindy-Lou Who [Cameron Seeley]. Screenwriters Michael LeSieur and Tommy Swerdlow provide some additional humor and fortunately this is not at the expense of the beloved and still inspiring story. The animation is also well-tuned and the voice performances are excellent, with Seeley and voice-over Pharrell Williams as standouts. Cumberbatch's voice is completely unrecognizable for unknown reasons.
