Many people think that this film is not very special, and has just been given a new look. But wasn't that the goal of this film? He would also be very fake. Apart from the crossbow machine gun (why a crossbow machine gun ) I find it quite realistic. And Robin Hood is a legend, so it may well be made up. All in all, I think it's a very good movie. But that's my opinion of course.

Pleasant, thought to see yet another tale about the highwayman but Bathurst tries to add a modernization to it that is entertaining and energetic, but also belongs in the lightweight category. Not a memorable film, easy to shoot because in this more contemporary setting it is striking that the Hood story is actually quite empty in terms of content. Apart from the well-known names and (albeit with more restrictions) also the content, this mainly resembles an average action film in the 21st century, but all in all it is quite well made and amusing for once. Weakness lies in the renditions. Egerton is no Connery, Crowe, Costner or Flynn and that charm is sorely missed. Maid Marian looks very nice, but in terms of acting it also remains a blank slate. With such mediocre opponents, it is immediately apparent that Foxx and the gratefully glaring Mendelsohn are quite good actors. Very reasonable for me, but I can imagine that the purists among us find this appalling.

“You call that a disguise?”

“Well it fooled everybody else!”

Not bad. Robin Hood has been gutted everywhere and received scathing reviews, and on the one hand I get that. The story is mediocre, the slow motion action scenes feel very stale and old-fashioned, and the acting by Mendelsohn and Dornan in particular is laughably bad. Egerton and Hewson are not bad, but Egerton in particular is strikingly colorless (especially considering his role in Kingsman)

Jamie Foxx is still at his best, but he has to make do with a thankless supporting role. Ritchie throws in some tiring action scenes with his signature directing style, and you just hope they are over as soon as possible. This was 'cool' in 1999, but now it's worn out. The current and socially critical message is just not pushed down your throat. Totally unnecessary, because Robin Hood is an interesting character in itself, and the time period doesn't need a nod to the present either. The film does have a lot of speed and I certainly wasn't bored, but that does not alter the fact that the Robin Hood story has produced too many mediocre films.
