Don't Talk to Irene plot
Irene Willis lives in a boring city. The life cycle is predictable and boring. Something 15-year-old Irene, the fattest girl in high school, may be able to break through. She dreams of becoming a cheerleader but is constantly reminded by her overprotective mother and those around her that she is not suited for the role. She decides to turn to the confident everyday goddess: Geena Davis. She talks to her through a poster of her in her bedroom. Geena provides her with the inspiration and motivation she needs to resist the bullies and follow her dream.

Nice film about a girl who is bullied at school and wants to become a cheerleader. A briskly paced coming-of-age story about a teenage girl who falls by the wayside. Geena Davis' self-confident voice-over is a nice addition. The progression is a bit predictable, but it's all easy to look away.
