Hmmm... movie scores better here than I expected.
The action is good and enjoyable. But the acting is terrible. So bad it almost feels real.
Nice to see once, but that's it.

Triple Threat: What's often the problem with these kinds of movies? You either have brilliant fighters who can't act, or you have decent actors who can't deliver a convincing kick (John Wick excepted). Triple Threat falls into the former category. That's not a problem in itself, but it does show a bit more hacking and tearing. The film's trailer gives the impression that Triple Threat is a kind of Expendables, but with fighters. Unfortunately, the film doesn't live up to that. Due to the uninteresting story, confusing dialogue, and lackluster acting, the film remains nothing more than a mediocre action flick.

While the film is a great watch, an hour and a half with plenty of no-nonsense action, I expected more from this production. When you put Asia's biggest martial arts stars in one film, you expect a smash hit. Unfortunately, it didn't reach the desired level. Besides the cringe-inducing acting, the choreography of the fight scenes wasn't always anything to write home about. This is in stark contrast to Jaa's and Uwais' other productions (Ong Bak, The Raid Redemption).
The story is also very thin, so that's not satisfying either. Perhaps I'll adjust my expectations next time...
