All victims are heroes these days that was the first thing that popped into my head after seeing this movie.
Olivia Wilde wants to show here that she is more than just her looks and can also act quite well. It must be said that Wilde certainly does her best, but that the film has turned out very superficial. The makers clearly want to make a statement about violence against women, but this film does not go much further than magnifying the suffering of the victims.
Everything is approached very soberly and minimalistically and that should ensure a certain impact that never actually comes. The entertainment value is therefore nil. Humor or perspective is nowhere to be seen and below the line this is a revenge film with a deep seriousness that makes you shrug your shoulders after twenty minutes and start thinking that you've already been busy for an hour.
The film is slow and meaningless, but you keep watching because you hope for something unique that deviates from the genre. In the end, all clichés are neatly ticked off, but it must be said that the film was made with the necessary guts and daring. However, this does not alter the fact that you absolutely do not have to watch it for pleasure.
Tiresome, long-winded and superficial are ultimately the words that stick.

The raw, almost painfully intense role of Olivia Wilde is the most positive aspect of this grim, deeply depressing drama. Atmosphere and acting are perfectly fine, but the messy plot is more than once rather unclear. And when the film turns into a thriller in the last half hour, that is not exactly a development I was really waiting for. Nevertheless, this is at times a fascinating, if not exactly pleasant viewing experience.
