Average comedy with some good jokes, but also some annoying characters. Especially Jillian Bell (Alice) is hard to beat. Moreover, it goes rather easily to flat humor. Which, by the way, I don't really like in similar comedies like The Hangover or American Pie. On the other hand, Scarlett Johansson, Zoe Kravitz and Kate McKinnon still make it fun. Don't expect high-quality acting, but fortunately it won't be bad. Rough Night manages to elicit a smile every now and then, that's all.

Average.

Rough Night kind of forms the basis of what we can expect in American comedies. Still, the film still has a USP, and that is that the things depicted in it seem a bit darker, and especially are. Topics such as murder and so on are not always immediately apparent.

Director Aniello has brought in a fairly well-known cast, with Johansson in particular surprising me that she was among them. You'd think he wouldn't really interfere with weekday comedy movies anymore. On the other hand, it seems to have been a pleasant film, but it still has some morals and message printed through it.

The film moves fairly quickly from location to location, but never manages to be hilarious. Very fresh, because the overcrowded film combined with a fairly unpredictable plot ensure that Rough Night is always a quick comedy to sit out. It's just not a movie that will make you laugh really hard, especially because the jokes feel a bit too scripted.

Ultimately, it's a fairly smooth film, with enough entertaining scenes, just not a real scene that will stay with you. By the way, I've never found either Bell or Kravitz brilliant in comedies, especially Bell is often annoying. Is also the only character that doesn't really feel realistic. All in all, it goes fast enough, but it probably won't keep up.
