After a sudden explosion and earthquake, Los Angeles is turned upside down. Reporter John Benson sees his chance to capitalize on these events. Meanwhile, Cathy - John's wife - and their two children arrive in Los Angeles. Cathy wants to confront John that their marriage is not going well. Suddenly a huge volcanic eruption takes place. The eruption is so severe that lava flies through the air. Now it's up to John to find his family and protect them.
