Hao Jile plot
The data is situated in a city in the south of China. A bag containing a million yuan drags several people from different backgrounds and personal motives into a bloody conflict. Philosophical gangster bosses, aging hitmen, men and women tired of the struggle for survival - anyone who happens to hold the bag does so firmly, as if it were vital. I thought it was a beautiful film and do not understand the low scores of the visitors. To begin with, I really liked the drawing style (realistic with a 'clear line'): every image seemed like a painting and a pleasure to look at (unlike e.g. the acclaimed drawing style of La Tortue Rouge which I do not have to found). The story is more or less a standard crime story but interesting because it depicts capitalist society as a violent world in which everyone is in the rat race, money is more important than human life and the paradox that money is the means to leave capitalism ('when we have money we leave the city to live a life in nature'). There is also (explicitly) a typical Eastern (Stoic) philosophy that modern life gives man the idea that he can determine his own destiny, while in reality fate determines man.

Watching this Chinese animation film regularly reminded me of No Country for Old Men (2007) by the Coen brothers. Not that strong of course, but certainly pleasant to follow. The animated series is OK although I'm not an absolute fan. Well detailed, but also too clinical, too clean.
The plot was also OK and when the stolen bag with money comes to everyone's ears, the dolls start dancing. Nice crime scenes here and there and the hunger for the money is great, although it symbolizes capitalism in terms of ideology.
Ideal in terms of playing time to maintain focus. Good elements are interspersed with less good elements. Nevertheless, it is still worth seeing. Enough!

Visually, in terms of style, nice and also atmospheric, but also very statically drawn and partly because of that, the film is rather slow. Fortunately, this video only lasts 45 minutes and it is just about time to sit down. Characters don't come to life either and some separate scenes are funny (in that speed camera is absurd somewhere) but as a whole it's all less strong. 2.0*.
