From the moment comic artist Will Henry catches his wife Charlie with another man, his life begins to deteriorate. Not only is he banished from Brooklyn to a tiny apartment in Astoria and can only see his two adorable twin daughters on weekends, Charlie says the divorce is all his fault. As he struggles with single fatherhood, Will sits at his drawing board every night illustrating his frustrations and loneliness.

Nice, realistic dialogue in a small, simple, but likeable story.
I only knew Regina Hall from the Scary Movie films, and it turns out she certainly has more to offer.
For a rainy Saturday afternoon like (currently the one I am in now), this is more than fine.

A film that makes few pretensions other than to simply be fun, and succeeds at that. The premise itself isn't particularly special—a father being abandoned by the mother of his children—but the film manages to keep it lighthearted, while the characters still possess the necessary depth. The little daughters are especially fun, particularly when one of them suddenly says "Mommy is a bitch!" out of nowhere.
Despite a lack of pretension, this film does exactly what it is supposed to do, and I gladly give it 3.5 stars.

When comic artist and literature teacher Will [Jermaine Clement] discovers that his wife Charlie [Stephanie Allynne] is having an affair with Gary [Michael Chernus], he realizes he will have to turn his life around. He struggles with everyday matters and shared custody of his twin daughters [Aundrea and Gia Gadsby]. Then an admiring student [Jessica Williams] introduces Will to her mother [Regina Hall]. Strouse's screenplay excels at creating characters that are unique yet authentic (in this genre) and showing understanding for everyone involved. The Gadsby sisters are a little too cute to be true, but Clement and Hall, in particular, make the most of their excellently written roles in this understated yet highly entertaining romantic comedy.
