For me, a step better than the first part. Well, the previous film may have been a bit more serious and dark, but this film has a much better gore approach and is a lot more entertaining. The dwarves look cooler, there are some genuinely raunchy scenes that made me swallow for a moment (such as the moment when it turns out that a kind of mutant suddenly emerges from a girl's back) and the humor works very well Good. It also comes across as exceptionally dated (1980s) in terms of soundtrack and lighting, but it works fine. Even the rather ugly metal balls made for some pretty cool scenes, while the Tall Man also seemed much cooler to me. Yes, just a very nice movie!

Nice sequel.

I suggested in part 1 that some more 80s kitsch would be good for this series, but that prediction seems to have more than come true in part 2. A little less serious, the horror itself has more to offer and a slightly larger budget also ensures a cooler and more spectacular ending.

Coscarelli still has some problems with continuity and the actors remain very mediocre. The film barely improves on those points. The story isn't very good either, but that was also the case with the first part. It is mainly the atmosphere that has improved somewhat.

The run-up is occasionally a bit too slow, especially with these actors, but the last half hour still provides a lot of horror fun. Some better effects, although it remains quite corny, more interesting creature design and also slightly more bloody. And that's ultimately why I watch things like this.

3.0*

Director Don Coscarelli was given a significantly larger budget compared to his first film and takes it seriously. Almost all elements have been given a little boost, and the practical effects in particular make an amusing impression. It takes a while for the film to get going and the story is not exactly interesting (this is due to the poor acting), but once the finale arrives, that is quickly forgotten. Angus Scrimm, among others, makes an intimidating impression here, something that is also an improvement compared to the predecessor. It is a pity that it takes a while before the event becomes really entertaining, but in the end you are guaranteed some nice and crude horror entertainment.
