I'm 8 years late to this spy party, but I'm glad I went in the end. The 10-part first season of the 2016 spy thriller Berlin Station is getting off to a slow start. The first episodes look messy, unnecessarily complex (but that's to be expected) and lack an appealing storyline. A comparison with Homeland is obvious, but Berlin Station mainly has good characters walking around. And no Carrie Mathisons. Yet the series is easy to put down. From episode 5 onwards the series gains momentum and tension. Without being innovative, Berlin Station still manages to convince in the endgame.
