Zone Blanche plot

Villefranche is a small town with no telephone reception on the edge of a mysterious forest. It is a green labyrinth of several thousand hectares. The number of inhabitants is decreasing, but there is a strong increase in crime. For example, the position is under pressure because of the announced closure of the local sawmill and the disappearance of the mayor's daughter. Police inspector Laurene was once the victim of a crime. She continues to discover new corpses.

Dit viel me niet mee. Warrige verhaallijn, zonder duidelijke rode draad, te veel zijweggetjes die nergens op uitkomen, veel te snel afgekapte scènes, geen aansprekende personages die nauwelijks enige invulling krijgen, en een overdaad aan donkere opnamen. Dat zou de creepy sfeer moeten versterken, maar daar ben je snel op uitgekeken. En dan tot overmaat ook nog een fantasy-sausje. Een mager vijfje. Laat dat tweede seizoen maar zitten.

I didn't like this. Confused storyline, without a clear common thread, too many side roads that lead to nowhere, scenes cut short far too quickly, no appealing characters who hardly get any interpretation, and an excess of dark shots. That should enhance the creepy atmosphere, but you quickly get tired of that. And to make matters worse, a fantasy sauce. A meager five. Don't miss the second season.

Vermakelijke maar uiteindelijke iets te vergezochte frans-belgische Netflix-serie. De personages kunnen er mee door en er is sfeer genoeg, maar de plot kent iets teveel toevalligheden en zit tot de nok toe gevuld met allerlei onnodige intriges. Naar het einde toe wordt één en ander evenwel best spannend, resulterend in de onvermijdelijke cliffhanger. Vooruit dan maar, ik kan nog wel een seizoen hebben.

Entertaining but ultimately a bit too far-fetched French-Belgian Netflix series. The characters can get on with it and there is enough atmosphere, but the plot has too many coincidences and is filled to the brim with all kinds of unnecessary intrigue. However, towards the end things get quite tense, resulting in the inevitable cliffhanger. Come on, I can still have one more season.

Ach, de verhalen zijn niet zo sterk, daar rammelt wel wat aan. Maar de personen zijn boeiend en de sfeer is goed getroffen. Ik heb altijd veel plezier als ik er naar kijk.

Oh well, the stories aren't that strong, there's something rattling about that. But the people are captivating and the atmosphere is well struck. I always have a lot of fun looking at it.
