wtFOCK plot

wtFOCK is a series about a group of young people in a secondary school in Berchem. Jana Ackermans has been going to school there since the beginning of September and thus ends up with her boyfriend, Jens Stoffels. Although she benefits from him a lot, she also tries to make new friends. Britt Ingelbrecht already knows them, but that has not been the case since last summer. Fortunately, she meets some other friends at a party.

wtFOCK season 1

Worthwhile attempt, but in the end it comes out too light. It took a while before I got into the series, but luckily it got a lot better after episode 5. I didn't find the FreeFest thing interesting, the rest was, although the drama was a bit too high, especially towards the end. It was overly sentimental at times, and at times the series took too little time and space to allow plot lines to evolve. And certain plot lines don't really come out well either. I wasn't really impressed with the acting either. It's not bad, but it doesn't stand out either.

Furthermore, in terms of language use, I don't think it is completely in line with the youth language that I hear (focking, dissing and the like is really weird to me), while here and there the behavior and interests of the young people are not really portrayed credibly (I think there are few who are going to ask their best friends to watch Girl or Beautiful Boy). This series proves once again how difficult it is to properly represent the world of young people, but it is already coming to a close. Home (2016) comes very close, but even there I have the idea that it is not done perfectly, due to certain choices that be made in the movie.
