After the messy and rather disappointing second season, I almost gave up hope, but this third series has completely restored my confidence. There is clearly a return to the formula that made the first season so strong, namely the interaction between two very different characters and playing with different time layers, but it is done in such a beautiful and impressive way that it does not disturb for a second. And Mahershala Ali and Stephen Dorff put down the best roles of their careers here, that's for sure. It is a pleasure to watch both. The plot around them is actually not that exciting and/or exciting, but it doesn't really matter. Sublime.

A new story with a small link to the events in season 1. This third season seems to last longer than the previous two, but that is mainly due to the slower pace at which everything moves. In terms of plot depth, this season is the best in this series so far. The setting is again excellent, with a slightly more mysterious slant. In this season it is important to stay on top of things, because the fiddling between 3 time periods, especially between the two eldest, is sometimes difficult to keep up with. Great cast, although Wayne was portrayed a bit too depressed here and there.

Phew, tough job. The whining and whining of the stiff, annoying couple, Wayne and Amelia, spoils a potentially good season. Because the murder mystery is only moderately interesting, and never stays on track, I had difficulty watching the season.
