The Prisoner season 1

A fantastic series. I had started this with some skepticism, but after a somewhat hesitant start, the storylines became more and more intriguing. At times, the series excels in clever inventions and good ideas. The dizzying mistaken identity in The Schizoid Man, for example. Or the slapstick-like situations in the highly entertaining The Girl Who Was Death. The paranoia is pushed to its limits in the comic Hammer into Anvil; not to mention the western Living in Harmony.

The Prisoner really seals its brilliance in the last two episodes, in which the psychological depth of Once Upon a Time leads to very intense states. Final episode Fall Out is a very strange mix of absurdism, mystery and inimitable situations.

McGoohan is masterly, who kicks the established order extremely soberly and does not hide his opinion about The Village. You will not find a more determined man anywhere. In addition, the supporting actors are often very entertaining. A special mention goes to Alexis Kanner, who plays a terrifying villain in Living in Harmony and a wonderfully disturbed character in Fall Out.

The Prisoner is a sublime series that is surprisingly accessible, with intelligent, very refined storylines, a strong main character and an intriguing main line.
