The Knick season 1

Great series about the Knickerbocker Hospital in New York, set around the turn of the last century. Clive Owen is perfect in the lead role and sees herself surrounded by a great cast. Very well put together by Steven Soderbergh (who directed all episodes), with great attention to detail and compelling plot lines. Not for the faint of heart - the many bloody operations are pontifically portrayed, but apart from that, the series looks nice and easy. On to the second (and unfortunately also the last) season.
