Robyn McCall, an enigmatic African-American woman from a mysterious background, uses her extensive skills to help people who have nowhere else to go. McCall comes across most as an average single mom quietly raising her teenage daughter. But to a few trusted people, she is "The Equalizer" - an anonymous guardian angel and defender of the oppressed, who is also obstinate in her pursuit of personal redemption.
