Sweetbitter plot

During the muggy summer of 2006, 22-year-old Tess leaves her everyday provincial life behind and heads to New York for a fresh start. As a country kid, Tess is no match for the unhinged lifestyle of the clamorous New Yorkers. She rents a room in Brooklyn and manages to land a job as an assistant waiter at a renowned Manhattan restaurant. Tess drags you through the chaotic, grueling, fascinating hospitality life she ends up in, against the backdrop of merciless, noisy New York. She learns about oysters, champagne, Burgundian manners and the nightlife that starts after closing time. Just as she gets a taste for it, she finds herself caught up in a complicated yet seductive love triangle involving a demure, stunning bartender and an older co-worker whom Tess clings to her mother like a child.
