Somewhere Boy plot
Danny was a baby when his mother died in a car accident. Overcome with grief, his father locked him in a house and told him that the outside world is full of monsters who will chase him away just like his mother. Eighteen years pass. When Danny only then realizes that the monsters don't exist, as his father had claimed, he questions his very existence.
