This fourth installment of the monster series sinks even deeper into the swamp. The Ed Gein series was already truly terrible, but this is just a real monstrosity.

If this wasn't from Netflix and from the Monster series, not much attention was paid to it; that is how terrible it is.

Actually, only the first Monster about Dahmer was very good.

And then the ridiculous story, which has absolutely nothing to do with the real story of Borden; actually, this is just pulp, and I notice that many film websites and newspapers rightly agree with me...

Lizzie Borden as a feminist role model. I admit I didn't see that angle coming. Just like the postmodern fusion of Aileen Wuornos with Lizzie Borden. Although a lot has to be made up for both ladies to connect the two different cases. And that is where the fourth season starts to chafe a little, because how much freedom is 'true crime' allowed to deviate from the facts? The result is a somewhat campy and exploitative vehicle, in which one moment you enjoy bizarre explosions of violence, while the next you are expected to reflect on very important matters. An amusing mismatch, to be sure.
