Maryland plot

Becca and Rosaline are two sisters who have grown apart over the years, but through tragic events they learn to love and respect each other again. Both sisters fly to the Isle of Man to find and repatriate their mother Mary's body. They learn that Mary was leading a double life. Her husband Richard lived in Manchester while she created another world for herself called Maryland.

After their mother dies, daughters Becca (Suranne Jones - Vigil, Doctor Foster) and Rosaline (Eve Best - House of the Dragon, Nurse Jackie) discover that mother Mary had big secrets. The three-part miniseries Maryland is based on an unlikely premise, but remains believable due to the good acting - despite the sometimes wooden dialogue. Maryland is a quintessentially British series. Beautiful landscape images (Isle of Man) in a catchy scenario. Everything stays neatly within the lines in Maryland. For a series about an emotionally dysfunctional family, that can hardly be called a compliment.
