Dud is a disarmingly optimistic local ex-surfer who is lost after the death of his father and the collapse of the family business. By miraculous coincidence, he finds himself on the doorstep of Lodge 49, a secret society where a middle-aged plumber, the 'Luminous Knight' Ernie, welcomes him into the world of cheap beer, camaraderie and the promise of alchemical mysteries. which may or may not help Dud recover his lost, idyllic lifestyle.
