In Shaker Heights, a quiet, progressive place in Cleveland, everything is meticulously planned. From the layout of the streets to the color of the houses and the successful lives of the residents. Goeie verhaallijnen en alhoewel het drama soms wat te ver gaat en wat ongeloofwaardig is, wordt het geheel wel meeslepend en ook wel spannend gebracht. Uitstekend acteerwerk, ook van de kinderen waarbij we hopelijk nog veel gaan horen van Lexi Underwood en vooral Megan Stott.

Good storylines and although the drama sometimes goes a bit too far and is unbelievable, the whole is brought compelling and also exciting. Excellent acting, also from the children, and we hope to hear a lot more from Lexi Underwood and especially Megan Stott.

Goed zij het typisch Amerikaans drama. Qua sfeer doet het sterk aan het iets betere Big Little Lies denken, met een vleugje Desperate Housewives. Witherspoon speelt een vergelijkbare rol als in BLL, hier is ze van het opgeruimde, perfect neurotische type in een Amerikaanse modelwijk. Samen met modelman, modelvrienden en modelkids. Tot Kerry Washington haar intrede doet: Big Little Fires & Lies Everywhere. Met een strak scenario, subtiele (racisme) en minder subtiele thema's (draag)moederschap), een aantal dramatische wendingen, goed acteerwerk (vooral van Lexi Underwood en Reese Witherspoon) vliegen de 8 afleveringen voorbij. Minpunt: met haar uitgesproken mimiek valt Washington behoorlijk uit de toon.

Ik vond Big Little Lies fantastisch, dit word er mee vergeleken maar het komt nog niet tot aan de enkels ervan. BBL was boeiend, grappig, spannend, en dit is vooral zeer slaapverwekkend en vervelend....

I thought Big Little Lies was fantastic, this is being compared to it but it still doesn't reach the ankles. BBL was fascinating, funny, exciting, and this is above all very sleep-inducing and annoying....
