I don't have much to do with the concept of the Bechdel test (are female characters mainly concerned with men!?), but it remains surprising that such an outspoken feminist title heroine mainly delivers tearjerker moments around a love triangle. The free-spirited Lidia Poët is constantly busy with lovers Jacobo, Andrea and Fourneau. It is also a bit predictable and formulaic. Every episode a murder mystery that is neatly solved within the hour, but lame cliffhangers around a political conspiracy. That does not alter the fact that the characters in the second season of 'La Legge di Lidia Poët' (2024) are better attuned to each other. A number of times I laughed a lot about farcical complications when the Poëts clash with the then applicable moral rules. Visually it also remains a sparkling production with colorful costumes and lively sets.
