Tja, ergens interessant om te zien, altijd interessant te zien hoe oplichters te werk gaan en hoe ze denken. In dit geval krijg ik sterk een Donald Trump gevoel (naar wie ook regelmatig verwezen wordt in de serie): ik heb sterk het idee dat zowel hij als de hoofdpersone van deze serie zelf in hun luchtkastelen geloven. Ik heb alleen sterke twijfels over het format van verhaal. Het wordt op een gegeven moment wel erg repetitief met scenes waarin de hoofdpersone de niet-functionerende creditcard wijt aan de systemen van de organizaties die ze oplicht en waarin ze een wire-transfer belooft. Dit soort scenes blijven zich maar herhalen. Ook het accent van de hoofdpersone gaat op een gegeven moment zo sterk irriteren, dat een serie gewoon te lang aanvoelt. Dit had veel beter een film kunnen zijn, waarin men veel meer had kunnen weglaten. 2*.

Scenes like this just keep repeating themselves. At a certain point the accent of the main character also irritates so much that a series just feels too long. This could have been a much better film, in which a lot more could have been left out. 2*.

"Inventing Anna is een nieuwe Netflix hit", volgens sommige berichtgevingen... De kritische kijker zou zeggen: "Inventing Anna is a new Netflix shit". Na mijn vorige bericht de dato 19 februari jl. heb ik (tegen beter weten in) deze serie nogmaals proberen op te starten en te verteren; gevolg was een spreekwoordelijke gang naar het toilet om de shit eruit te gooien... Wat een totale miskleun deze serie. Maar kijkers met de diepgang van een platbodem schuit vinden het blijkbaar vermakelijk... Tja, voor iedereen wat wils zeggen ze dan...

Uitstekende mini serie over een oplichtster die veel mensen op een roze wolk liet leven. Voor niets gaat de zon op. Daar zou het toch op moeten uitkomen. Het verhaal had wat compacter neergezet kunnen worden. 9 afleveringen waren te veel, omdat het een herhaling van zetten werd. Toch verbaasde het mij weer hoe Amna er mee weg kwam Nu draait de serie niet alleen om de oplichterij. Er is meer diepgang. Vele personages krijgen een duidelijk karakter. Vond ik sterk. Het acteren was dik in orde. Julia Garner speelde top. Misschien komt ze wat overdreven over, maar ik denk dat de arrogantie, lef en emoties prima zijn neergezet. Excellent mini series about a con artist who made many people live on a pink cloud. The sun rises for nothing. That's what it should end up on.

The story could have been written a bit more compactly. 9 episodes were too much, because it became a repetition of moves. Still, I was surprised how Amna got away with it

Now the series is not just about the scam. There is more depth. Many characters get a clear character. I found that strong.

The acting was great. Julia Garner was great. Maybe she comes across as a bit over the top, but I think the arrogance, courage and emotions are well portrayed.
